if you closed out both the sconfig and cmd window then ctrl-alt-del (or ctrl-alt-terminate on a remote session) and offset the task managing director.  then get to file > run new task and from at that place type sconfig and or cmd.

it is to my agreement that the full server manager window does not exist on server core, I might be wrong but now I am curious.

Sconfig looks like this:

Press "Enter", SConfig will announced.

ServerManager looks like this:

Press "Enter" and Server Manager will appear.

Just type in ServerManager, and that should reopen information technology. Besides, you practise non have to manage Server 2012 or 2012 R2 at the server itself anymore. Use RSAT tools from your Windows 8.1 or even a Windows 7 machine (won't have server manager but all the other tools you lot need) and learn PowerShell remoting. You will be much more efficient that way and learn some new skills.

mmm. Feeling kind of stupid now :-) I tried some other combinations like serverman & svrmngr. Didn't recall almost writing it out in full. hahaha

I am deploying new servers & vm'south so I Remote Desktop into them to fix each one up. It helps with my workflow if i connect into them crusade and then I know I am not forgetting something.

Not to clued upwardly with PSRemoting. Came across it a few times now. Will expect into it.

No, it does not. Ii entirely split up technologies. One is a standalone Type-one hypervisor. The other (Server 2012 R2) can accept the Hyper-V part enabled, but when you do enable that feature, Server 2012 R2 rides on top of the Hyper-V at that point.

Non to clued up with PSRemoting. Came beyond it a few times now. Will look into information technology.

There's 0 deviation between using Server Manager via RSAT or doing the extra step of using RDP to the server. This is the onetime way. Server Manager is the new fashion and referred to heavily on the new MCSA exams. Fourth dimension to start using it ;-).

True but you lot cant install Substitution, Antivirus, Backup software, configure other software or copy files with RSAT.

Fill-in Software supports PowerShell, WSB, Backup Aid to name a couple fill-in products back up PowerShell cmdlets. There are others also. As for configuring software and copying files, you lot can yet do some of this via PowerShell or RSAT tools. The point I was trying to make is that yous should very rarely have to use RDP anymore for server administration.
